Whilst UK manufacturing has been in decline over the last decade as a result of cheap imports and transition of the manufacturing cost base outside of the UK, 2006 showed an upward trend and UK manufacturers are more optimistic about the future after seeing output increase and orders grow said the Engineering Employers Federation (EEF).

Interim Management has always played an important part in this sector but even more as now as many UK companies review their production capabilities and implement philosophies such as six sigma and lean manufacturing to increase their competitiveness.
